Gateway To Collaborate on Local to Global Food Challenges
The Minnesota Global Food Venture (MN-GFV) is a public-private partnership committed to answering the global imperative of safe, nutritious and affordable food, through the application of innovative discovery, and next generation workforce development. The University contacted Mercury Creative Group to create the first ever online tool to connect government, domestic and international Industry stakeholders to the University of Minnesota’s broad range of research and expertise for the global food system from farm to fork.
Following the Mercury Method, we set out to determine the primary audiences and for what need and what the ultimate goal of the site truly was. After a few working sessions, and a clean sitemap and functionality needs determined, the end goal became the name of the site. A one-stop gateway to experts, research and workforce talent that creates synergistic opportunities to collaborate on local to global food challenges.
With our end user goal and sitemap completed, the University of Minnesota Gateway to Food Expertise was born. The site is an easy to use search portal, or gateway, that demonstrates and promotes UMN’s significant capability to accomplish work in the global food system and how to connect experts within the category, type and college you are searching. The website offers an easy to use, centralized knowledge base of experts and a network of collaborators, partners and resources to build awareness of the universities global food legacy and world class innovation in food, health and nutrition.
Recently launched, the site is performing to meet its goals and be an effective tool for advancing awareness to existing and emerging food industries of the University to attract partners and funding.
